Growing up, my family lived in a small town nestled in the heart of Colombia's Andes Mountains. Transportation was challenging and often hazardous, keeping us isolated from larger cities and their resources. My mother was a teacher at a rural school, and she supplemented our income by making clothes. My mother took it upon herself to learn sewing, crafting clothes not only for our family but for other families in town as well. She often took me along to her classes, where I delighted in watching her create. Sometimes, she even sold her handmade pieces to our neighbors, helping support our family.

Years later, I pursued accounting and gained knowledge of business, but I never forgot my mother’s dedication and the inspiration she instilled in me to one day build my own dream. When I got engaged, I made the decision to leave my job and start my own wedding business, all while planning my wedding. On December 1, 2010, “Orquideas Dresses” was born, designed to serve Latin American weddings with elegance and care. It’s been a journey of growth and learning ever since.

In 2015, we moved to the United States for work, and shortly after, I became a mother to my second kid. My son’s arrival led me to dedicate myself fully to caring for him. Meanwhile, we began planning a new business, this time focusing on products for children and mothers.

By 2018, I found a new source of inspiration and empowerment in Adelante Mujeres, a nonprofit organization in Oregon. Their support encouraged me to follow my dreams and continue pursuing our goals.

This business is dedicated to my mother, my daughter, my son, and my dear husband—all of whom inspire me every day.

Our Portland Chapter

Portland became an important part of the Sparkly Gowns story.

Our boutique allowed us to meet so many wonderful people and become part of their most meaningful celebrations. We had the privilege of helping customers and families find gowns and special pieces for weddings, proms, pageants, communions, birthdays, and many other unforgettable moments.

Like many small businesses, we also faced challenges along the way. After much consideration, we made the difficult decision to close our physical Portland boutique on May 31, 2026.

Although that chapter came to an end, I look back on our years in Portland with tremendous gratitude.

I am grateful for the beautiful people I met, for the community that welcomed and supported us, for our customers who trusted us, and for the families who allowed Sparkly Gowns to become a small part of some of the most important moments in their lives.

Thank you, Portland, for being part of our journey.

A New Chapter in North Carolina

After closing our Portland boutique, Sparkly Gowns is beginning a new chapter in beautiful North Carolina.

Starting September 1, 2026, I will continue my journey as an online boutique, bringing our collection of beautiful gowns and special-occasion styles to customers across the United States and beyond.

Our location has changed, but my passion remains the same:  helping you find something beautiful for life's most special moments.

A new chapter. The same Sparkly Gowns. ✨
